Dairy Free Caramel Apple Dip
Make this dairy free caramel apple dip for your family to enjoy. A wonderful treat for after apple picking! This recipe can be doubled for bigger families- ours gets eaten up quick! Just make sure to use a big enough saucepan so it does not overflow. You can also use this as a sauce over desserts.
Dairy Free Caramel Apple Dip
27 ounces full fat coconut milk (two cans)
1 cup sucunat or coconut sugar
1 tsp. sea salt
2 tsp. coconut oil
2 tsp. vanilla extract
Combine the coconut milk, sucunat or coconut sugar, and salt in a saucepan over medium high heat.
Bring to a boil (keep a close eye on it because it burns easily and can boil over!), then lower the temperature slightly.
Simmer for 40-45 minutes, stirring frequently so it does not burn. (Take heart- it’s worth it in the end. I read a book at the kitchen counter while stirring).
Once the sauce has reduced, darkened and thickened to coat the back of a spoon, remove from heat and stir in coconut oil and vanilla extract.
Serve the sauce warm or refrigerate it in a sealed jar.
