Dig Out the Bad Seeds

Satan plants little seed-thoughts. You know the kind I am talking about. “You’re not pretty like she is, so you’ll never be happy like her.” “You have nothing to offer the world.” Or even, “You are so worthless.”
If we don’t immediately gouge these toxic little seeds out, they will sprout. Then, they will quickly begin to take root in our lives, and before you know it, these noxious weeds will take over and become our inner voice and our identity, crowding out all the good plants, with no room for new growth of the important beneficial ones. The good seeds that tell us who we really are, instead of the lies that have taken over. What we must do is dig out the ugly weeds. 2 Corinthians 10:5 says, “We break down every thought and proud thing that puts itself up against the wisdom of God. We take hold of every thought and make it obey Christ.”
We do this by renewing our minds with the word of God and guarding our hearts and minds against the tactics of the enemy. “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:2.
As we replace these harmful and insecure thoughts with God’s promises and secure thoughts about who we are, and whose we are, we begin to grow a new garden. A garden that is beautiful and healthy and rooted in truth. “Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.” Colossians 2:7.
We have a choice to make. Are we going to allow the gardens of our hearts and minds to be overtaken and overgrown with negativity and lies? Or, are we going to plant a new garden? A garden that allows us to prosper in Christ and become all that He created us to be. Are there some lies that you need to rid from your life? Which plants will you water? Start planting with seeds of truth.
